The electrodes are the physical contact with the head of the user. The electrodes we chose to use are standard EEG electrodes. Each analog channel includes two electrodes. One is positioned on the forehead of the user where the alpha waves are weak and is used as a reference point, the other electrode is positioned at the O1 or O2, These areas are known for strong alpha waves. O1 will be chosen if the user is right handed and O2 otherwise.

The electrode positioned on the forehead uses a flat contact while the electrode at the back of the head uses a pin array contact to penetrate the hair.

The electrodes are configured to give unity gain as the amplifiers output is shorted to the (-) input.
